National Forum 2026

In the room where industry's future is shaped.

12–13 October 2026

Why this matters

The economy is in a period of turbulence. Artificial intelligence is changing what work gets done and who does it. Trade security can no longer be assumed. Productivity growth has stalled, and the skills your business needs are getting harder to find.

None of these are waiting for you. Decisions are being taken now — in policy, in regulation, in where public investment goes — and they will land on your cost base, your workforce and your investment plans whether or not you were in the room when they were made.

National Forum puts you in that room. Over two days in the Theatrette at Parliament House, you will hear directly from the Prime Minister, the Treasurer, the Opposition Leader and the ministers and frontbenchers responsible for those decisions. And they will hear from the businesses carrying them.

Turning turbulence to advantage starts with knowing what is coming early enough to act on it.

The questions the Forum will examine

These are the issues examined in Australian Industry Group’s State of Industry report, released at the Forum.

Trade Security

Trade security is becoming an increasingly important issue for Australian businesses operating in a complex global environment. This session explores the intersection of trade, national security, geopolitics and supply chains, examining how global events and policy decisions can affect business operations, investment and long-term competitiveness.

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence is transforming the way organisations operate, innovate and compete. This discussion will explore the opportunities and challenges of AI adoption, including workforce impacts, productivity gains, governance considerations and the practical steps businesses can take to implement AI successfully and responsibly.

Politics and the Economy

Political decisions have far-reaching consequences for business confidence, investment and economic growth. This session brings together differing political perspectives to discuss the policies, reforms and challenges shaping Australia's economic future, providing valuable insights for business leaders navigating an evolving policy environment.
