The energy in the room was inspiring for the launch of our International Student Industry Engagement Program in Melbourne last week.

We were thrilled to welcome a vibrant group of Chinese international students from mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, who were keen participants in the first workshop of the program exploring how to navigate the Australian business and workplace environment.

Students heard from Australian Industry Group's Head of Victoria Tim Piper, Principal Advisor - Workplace Relations Policy Scott Barklamb and National Manager – International Competitiveness Shirley Ng on topics including:

▪ the Australian industry landscape and workplace structure

▪ compliance and fair work practices

▪ cross-cultural communication and business etiquette and

▪ Australia–China business relations and cultural exchange.

Students engaged deeply with the content, asked thoughtful questions and shared their own experiences of navigating work and study in Australia.

Participant Aliza Luo said she was "so glad" to be part of the program.

"It was a really valuable event," she added.

"Thank you to the organisers and speakers for a great experience."

Ms Ng said the success of the program's inaugural event was a powerful reminder of the importance of building connections between cultures and industry.

"This is just the beginning," she said.

"We look forward to expanding the program nationally and continuing to foster meaningful connections between Australian businesses and Chinese international students from mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan studying in Australia."

The International Student Industry Engagement Program, run by Australian Industry Group, is supported by the National Foundation for Australia-China Relations.

We're proud to be a National Foundation for Australia-China Relations grant recipient.
