The statutory entitlement to casual conversion in the National Employment Standards (NES) changed significantly from 26 August 2024. These changes removed the previous obligation to offer conversion to certain casual employees and replaced it with an ‘employee choice’ notification pathway which allows employees to notify their employer that they wish to convert to permanent employment.
