The key to developing an organisation’s robust succession plan is to firstly identify which key positions/roles are critical to the success of the organisation. This means that an initial process needs to occur to identify those positions that are critical to the organisation delivering on its business strategy. These business-critical positions (BCPs) can often be leadership positions, but they can also be ones where unique skill sets are required.

Employers are encouraged to determine who will complete this questionnaire. To minimise bias, this will need to be assessed by multiple key employees including HR and leadership roles.
