Australian Industry Group is committed to reconciliation — the process of strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians.

As a membership organisation, we recognise the importance of advocating for the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

While we still have much work to do, we are proud of the steps we have taken in our reconciliation journey so far. They include:

  • providing services to assist the employment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in apprenticeships, traineeships and other job opportunities;
  • fostering relationships with local Indigenous communities and organisations and seeking their guidance and input on our business practices. This includes creating opportunities for meaningful dialogue, partnership and collaboration and supporting Indigenous-led initiatives;
  • partnering with Supply Nation and the First Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry to promote engagement with and growth of Indigenous businesses;
  • using our voice to advocate greater flexibility and diversity in the Australian workplace relations system;
  • installing plaques in all Australian Industry Group offices acknowledging the traditional owners of the land;
  • providing guidance to Australian Industry Group employees on Acknowledgement of Country/Welcome to Country protocols and
  • commissioning an artwork by an Indigenous artist to celebrate our reconciliation journey.

We recognise that reconciliation is an ongoing journey. It reminds us that generations of Australians have fought hard for meaningful change, but ongoing effort is required for future gains.

We are committed to monitoring and reporting on our progress towards reconciliation and hold ourselves accountable for making meaningful and sustained change.

Host a Wuu-rri vending machine: a simple way to create impact at work

Looking for a practical way to bring reconciliation commitments to life in your workplace, without adding to your team’s workload? Wuu-rri Vending enables you to host a vending machine at no cost, while a portion of every purchase is reinvested into initiatives that strengthen Indigenous entrepreneurship, youth opportunity and community-led economic development.

Established by the NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce, Wuu-rri operates a national social enterprise model that transforms commercial activity into sustainable funding for Indigenous entrepreneurship.

It’s designed to be easy: Wuu-rri assesses your site, installs the machine and manages stocking, maintenance and servicing through national fulfilment partners. Your team gets a convenient on-site amenity, and you receive impact reporting to demonstrate outcomes aligned to reconciliation, ESG and social procurement goals.

What your business gets

· A no-cost workplace amenity — a convenient option for staff and visitors, with installation, replenishment and servicing handled end-to-end.

· Low effort for your team — Wuu-rri manages the program through national fulfilment partners, so you’re not chasing stock or maintenance.

· A clear, visible action on reconciliation — everyday purchases help generate sustainable funding for Indigenous enterprise initiatives.

· Impact you can report — receive updates you can reference in RAP activities, ESG reporting and stakeholder communications.

· Community benefit beyond your workplace — proceeds are reinvested into initiatives such as microgrants and capability-building programs that support Indigenous entrepreneurship, youth initiatives and community-led economic development.
