This program is designed to ensure that managers and supervisors understand their role in promoting a respectful workplace culture, achieving legal compliance and undertaking effective complaint handling. Participants will explore when and how they are obliged to act in a range of common workplace scenarios.

The culture of any organisation is shaped by the worst behaviour the leader is willing to tolerate. (Gruenter and Whitaker).

Upon completion, managers will be able to:

  • Define discrimination, harassment (including sexual harassment), bullying and related unlawful behaviours
  • Identify psychosocial hazards in the context of workplace behaviour and understand WHS obligations to manage those risks
  • Understand their responsibilities under Respect@Work positive duty and WHS legislation
  • Determine what constitutes reasonable management action in performance and conduct management
  • Examine potential personal and organisational liability, including contemporary case law trends
  • Respond effectively to complaints using appropriate informal or formal processes
  • Apply protections relating to victimisation, adverse action and procedural fairness

Note:  Additionally, onsite programs are available for employees (1.5 hours) and senior executives (1.5 hours).
