It was a pleasure to welcome our Chief Executive, Innes Willox, to Brisbane for a full program of meetings and member engagement last week.
Innes and I spent time with several members, including those on our board. It’s so valuable to hear firsthand the priorities shaping your decision making. These insights help our national leadership and policy teams represent the diverse industrial base here in Queensland.
We also caught up with the Director General for Premier and Cabinet and Director General for Trade, Employment and Training. This was a great opportunity to make our policy priorities clear — ensuring Queensland industry is strongly represented in pre-budget thinking and planning.
A highlight was hosting a boardroom lunch that allowed members to hear from the newly appointed Chair of Trade and Investment Queensland, the Hon. Will Hodgman. The discussion, pictured below, covered Queensland’s position in global markets; trade diversification opportunities and the state’s emerging role as a hub for advanced manufacturing, clean energy, defence and food production. Will’s stories from his time as Consul General in Singapore provided great insights into conducting business in the Asia region.
Innes also joined ABC Radio Drive with presenter Ellen Fanning, offering national commentary on Australia’s economic settings and workplace relations reforms.
