Statement from Chief Executive Innes Willox

Australian Industry Group today announces the appointment of Mr John Dixon as its national chairman, replacing Mr Chris Jenkins who has served in the role since 2016.

Mr Jenkins' contracted term as a board member of Thales Australia ended on 30 June. He has chaired Australian Industry Group through a period of major internal change and external challenge, including the Covid era and its aftermath, as well as significant shifts in the operating environment confronting Australian businesses across the economy.

Mr Jenkins has held the voluntary role while being the chief executive and then a board member of Thales Australia. On behalf of all Australian Industry Group members, I sincerely thank Chris for his dedication to the role and his unwavering commitment to the success of Australian industry.

I personally thank him for his stalwart support and wise counsel to me over the past decade.

Mr Dixon was previously the organisation's national vice president and has held a series of senior roles in Australian industry, with a strong background in the logistics and technology sectors.

Among other roles he is currently chair of an emerging bio-science company, AMT Pty Ltd. Previously, among other roles, Mr Dixon has worked as the group managing director of the Silk Logistics Group; the chief operating officer and executive director of Skilled Engineering; the chief operating officer and executive director of Fox Holdings; the executive director of logistics for Patrick Corporation and the managing director of Westgate Logistics and Salta Logistics.

Mr Dixon is also a director of AustralianSuper and chairs its risk and compliance committee and is a member of its member and employer services committee and the technology committee.

Mr Dixon's strong industry background and focus on emerging and innovative technologies makes him well placed to chair the organisation through the current wave of rapidly changing business conditions.

The appointment is effective from 1 July 2026.
