Submission to the Joint Standing Committee on Migration

Australia faces complex demographic and economic pressures requiring strategic policy responses. While migration is often viewed through the lens of population pressures, the evidence in this submission demonstrates that skilled migration is the fundamental release valve for Australia's acute labour market constraints – particularly in housing, construction, healthcare, and sovereign capability.

Skilled migration drives Australia's productivity, economic competitiveness and capacity to meet critical infrastructure objectives. We currently have a housing crisis requiring a construction workforce we do not possess, and an aged care crisis requiring a care workforce where demand exceeds supply. Migration is not the cause of these shortages – it is part of the solution.
