On 20 February 2026, Australian Industry Group made a submission to NSW Procurement in response to its consultation on the Local Jobs First Bill 2025 (Bill), Local Jobs First Regulation 2025 (Regulation) and the proposed Supplier Debarment Scheme (Scheme) amendments to the Public Works and Procurement Act 1912 (NSW).

Australian Industry Group supports in-principle NSW Procurement's objective of using its procurement settings to support local industry and local jobs, provided reforms maintain value-for-money, contestability and proportionality for suppliers and do not duplicate existing compliance frameworks. Australian Industry Group does not however support the creation of a supplier debarment scheme or the imposition of due diligence obligations on head contractors in relation to their supply chains.
