Australian Industry Group members are invited to a briefing at 2.00pm on Thursday, 15 October 2026, covering the Government's draft Secure Australian Jobs Framework (Secure Jobs Framework) and proposed amendments to the Commonwealth Supplier Code of Conduct (Supplier Code).
The Government proposes to incorporate the Secure Jobs Framework into Commonwealth procurement by amending the Supplier Code to require suppliers, where requested, to demonstrate alignment with the following five Secure Jobs Framework principles:
Alignment may be demonstrated by meeting most of the relevant best-practice indicators in the Secure Jobs Framework, including by providing rights and conditions to employees that exceed those required under applicable legislation or industrial instruments.
The Framework is not intended to apply to the construction industry. However, the Government has indicated that it may be implemented in relation to grants where considered appropriate.
The Government has invited submissions on the proposed changes by Wednesday, 21 October.
The purpose of this meeting is to explain the proposed changes and provide members with an opportunity to share feedback on any implications for industry. This feedback will help inform our submission and ongoing engagement with Government.
