On 15 March 2026, the Transport Workers' Union (TWU) and Australian Road Transport Industrial Organisation wrote to the Fair Work Commission, requesting urgent assistance “to address extreme increases to the price of fuel costs that have the very real prospect of halting road transport supply chains” and argued that “all supply chain participants are critical in finding an appropriate solution”. Australian Industry Group filed a letter in response, outlining various concerns about the proposal.
