Australian Industry Group welcomed the opportunity to make a short submission regarding Extended Producer Responsibility Scheme for Packaging (No Time to Waste) Bill 2026. 

We are strongly of the view that Australia needs to deliver regulatory reform for packaging now. There is too much waste generation, too little flow of that waste into higher order uses, and not enough opportunity for businesses in Australia to generate sustainable value from that. This is a complex area and it is appropriate to consult and take care with the detail of reform. But we have been developing and consulting for a while and it is time to pick up the pace and get this done.
